Honoring our nation's vererans
Col David Hornyak, 377th Air Base Wing vice commander, presents a memorial brick to the wife of fallen warrior Maj. Jeffrey Ausborn, U.S. Air Force, at the Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 11 at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial. The brick, engraved with the name of the fallen warrior, will be placed at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial in Albuquerque.

The U.S. flag at Kirtland AFB was lowered to half staff Jan. 6 in honor of Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez, who died Dec. 30. Marquez is credited with revolutionizing the maintenance and logistics career fields and has an Air Force award named after him, recognizing excellence in aircraft, munitions and missile maintenance. Kirtland AFB civic leader gets hands-on experience
Staff Sgt. James Parent, 342nd Training Squadron Operating Location Alpha, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, instructs David Seely, CEO of Kirtland Federal Credit Union and 58th Special Operations Wing honorary commander, on the proper way to operate a 50-caliber machine gun March 9. Gen. Edward A. Rice Jr., commander of Air Education and Training Command, invited 20 civic leaders from 16 different base communities to observe training operations at Lackland AFB and the Camp Bullis training site in San Antonio. The AETC commander’s group visited the 28,000-acre Camp Bullis training site March 8.
