Kirtland AFB Fire Department assist Albuquerque Fire Rescue and Bernalillo County Fire Department
A Fire at a New Mexico recycling plant prompted the Kirtland Air Force Base Fire Department to assist the Albuquerque Fire Rescue team and the Bernalillo County Fire Department in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 6, 2023. Damian Furtman (left) and Kelly Wild (right) from the Kirtland AFB Fire Department are seen engaging in the firefighting efforts to extinguish the flames. Due to the joint operations effort, the fire was quickly contained and no injuries were reported.

Emergency Management build a bag seminar
Tech. Sgt. Augustine Ortega from Emergency Management conducted an annual course on "Building a Bag" at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, August 3, 2023. The purpose of the class was to educate people on what items they would require during a natural disaster. Each participant was able to construct a bag and take it home. Kirtland AFB Emergency Management office is the prime agency responsible for developing plans to ensure all personnel are trained to meet mission needs and to minimize casualties and damage in the event of any disaster situation.
