A Survivor’s Guide to Benefits-Taking Care of Our Families, is intended to aid family members as they work through the difficulty and pain of losing a loved one who served in the military. The guide is designed to give family members a clear idea of how the Department of Defense will assist, starting with the first meeting with the Casualty Assistance Representative (CAR). It covers the planning and details of the funeral or memorial service and continues through the application and processing of all benefits and entitlements.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) supports DAF (APF, NAF, Space Force, ANG) employees and Army civilians on AF-led Joint Bases and their respective household members. Services are free, confidential, 24/7 online, in-person, by phone or virtual. Services include non-medical counseling (up to 6 sessions per topic), legal consultation, work life, education kits, elder care, supervisor resources, physical/mental wellness, webinars and more.

The Kirtland AFB Finance Office (the 377th Comptroller Squadron) manages military, civilian, and travel pay, processes entitlements, and coordinates with DFAS to resolve pay issues. They ensure accurate and timely compensation so service members can focus on their primary mission. They manage basic pay, allowances (BAH, BAS), bonuses, and allotments. They process Temporary Duty (TDY) vouchers, Permanent Change of Station (PCS) reimbursements, and deployment entitlements. They also handle compensation, leave, and benefits for appropriated fund civilian employees.
