Helping Japan
What began as two military children at Kirtland Air Force Base wanting to help raise money for Japan quickly turned into a dozen children selling lemonade and accepting donations March 26 and 27. After two days, they had raised more than $250. The military children were William McGregor, Makailey Cregger, Jojo Cruz, Ben Webster, DJ Best, Jacob Albrandt, Miguel Cruz, Gavin Cregger, Hunter Albrandt, Kyla Walker, Brie Stalker and Karen McGregor. ALS Graduation
Class 11-4 graduated March 23 in a ceremony hosted by 377th Air Base Wing commander Col. Robert L. Maness, at the Mountain View Club. More than 180 people attended. Airman Leadership School had 23 graduates, with three individuals being promoted to staff sergeant during the ceremony. The John L. Levitow Award winner was Senior Airman Matthew Clark, 377th Security Forces Squadron. The Commandant Award winner was Senior Airman Angel Aroche, 377 SFS. The Distinguished Graduate was Senior Airman Brian Paredes, 377 SFS. The Academic Achievement Award winner was Senior Airman Isaac Blach, Space Development and Test Directorate. Kirtland AFB civic leader gets hands-on experience
Staff Sgt. James Parent, 342nd Training Squadron Operating Location Alpha, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, instructs David Seely, CEO of Kirtland Federal Credit Union and 58th Special Operations Wing honorary commander, on the proper way to operate a 50-caliber machine gun March 9. Rice Jr., commander of Air Education and Training Command, invited 20 civic leaders from 16 different base communities to observe training operations at Lackland AFB and the Camp Bullis training site in San Antonio. Wounded warrior returns home
Wounded warrior returns home. Marine Lance Cpl. Ivan Sears was greeted by more than 400 people at the Albuquerque Sunport when he returned home to New Mexico Feb. 20. Lance Cpl. Sears lost both legs above the knee last Oct. in an improvised explosive device explosion while on patrol in Afghanistan. He has spent the last five months recuperating and rehabilitating at the San Antonio Military Medical Center in Texas. Lance Cpl. Sears will return to the San Antonio Military Medical Center at the conclusion of his visit home. He will continue his rehabilitation and also be fitted for new prosthetic legs.
