Evidently many motorcycle and motor scooter operators missed the information about what is required to ride on base. This is the short and sweet of it: meet these requirements and you can legally operate your two-wheeled vehicle on Kirtland AFB.

All operators and passengers, whether active duty military, Reserve and National Guard members, family members and all civilians working on or visiting the installation must be in compliance with the following items if they wish to ride a motorcycle or motor scooter on base.

· Operators must have a valid state or U.S. territory motor vehicle license in your possession.

· Operators must have completed an approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation course and have in their possession one of the following:

· The MSF certification card

· A notarized letter from the training institute validating the training completed meets MSF requirements

· A valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement from a state or territory requiring completion of MSF training.

All operators and passengers must wear the following:

· Long sleeved contrasting colored shirt or jacket for daytime use that must be reflective for use at night and visible to the rear. If carrying a passenger the reflective material must still be visible to the rear. The reflective color must be contrasting to the night time and be a cumulative amount of 144 square inches. If your reflective color is not one of the listed options, contact the 377 ABW Ground Safety Office for a determination.

· Flightline belts if worn must be worn diagonally over the shoulder.

· Long pants,

· Over the ankle shoes fully covering the feet (no open toes)

· Full-fingered gloves or mittens,

· Approved and properly fastened helmet,

· Face shield, safety glasses or goggles.
