Team Kirtland participates in forum for renewable energy Published Sept. 25, 2007 By Jillian Speake 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- Industry and the general public will be able to learn about Kirtland AFB's energy projects, both renewable and conventional, at a forum in Ontario, Calif., Sept. 26-27. Along with Luke AFB, Ariz., Edwards AFB, Calif., and Vandenberg AFB, Calif., Kirtland AFB is participating in this Renewable Energy Enhanced Use Lease Industry Forum. The forum gives private industry and community stakeholders an opportunity to learn how Air Force leaders intend to use energy projects, both renewable and conventional, to support the Air Force's missions. During the two-day forum, at the Hilton Ontario Airport Hotel, Ontario, Calif., Air Force representatives will discuss energy strategy and highlight potential projects capable of generating renewable energy at Air Force bases throughout the country. With New Mexico's sunny skies, Kirtland AFB is in a perfect location for a large scale solar energy plant. The event will also provide the opportunity for attendees, including those from state and local governments, public utilities, real estate developers, equipment manufacturers, private equity firms, lenders and other firms, to provide their input on these projects and help shape the future of the Air Force's energy program. Renewable energy projects are the latest to be explored through the Air Force's Enhanced Use Lease, or EUL, program, which builds partnerships between the military and private industry by leasing underutilized military assets to private entities for development. This effort is part of the larger Air Force-wide energy strategy to reduce demand and increase supply of energy resources as well as drive change in Air Force culture when it comes to consuming and conserving energy. The Energy EUL Industry Forum is open to the general public. For more information about this event and/or to register, visit https://www.enstg.com/Signup. The conference code is REN96690.
