Airmen from the 377th Medical Group took first place overall Oct. 9 at the annual Emergency Medical Technician Rodeo at Cannon AFB, N.M.
"The purpose of the event is to allow medical technicians to use their EMT skills in a competitive format," said Tech. Sgt. Michael Charles, Kirtland team captain. "This is the second year in a row that Team Kirtland has taken first place."
Teams competed in numerous events, including medical assessment, trauma assessment, traction splint, EMT knowledge and litter obstacle course. The rodeo

In addition to the overall first place finish, Team Kirtland won the litter obstacle course, setting a new course record.
"Team Kirtland trained for f ive weeks pr ior to the event during off-duty hours," said Sergeant Charles.
