PWOC at Kirtland AFB to remain vibrant

The Protestant Women of the Chapel is one of the Kirtland AFB Chapel's most vibrant ministry programs. More than 100 women and children gather from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each Wednesday at the Chapel, building and strengthening relationships with God and each other. PWOC has helped create strong spiritual foundations for our military marriages and families, which in turn, strengthens the resiliency of our Airmen.

There is a rumor that PWOC will be dismantled or diminished in some capacity. Let me assure you, this is not the case! What made recent news is that the Army is restructuring its PWOC funding and hierarchy to move funding and leadership to the local level. The Air Force already does this.

The Air Force has always funded local PWOC programs through the tithes and offerings of worshippers at the base chapel. Likewise, our organization and structure has always been under the authority of local chaplains. The only change we will notice is that the Army will no longer sponsor international/regional conferences or manage international/regional leadership boards.

Kirtland AFB PWOC will continue to host its own retreats/conferences and manage our own leadership board.
