KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The Kirtland Air Force Base Tax Center will be open again for the 2019 tax season between Feb. 4 and April 15 to provide free tax-filing services to eligible individuals.
The Tax Center is completely volunteer-run and has partnered with the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
Eligibility: Because resources are limited, the Tax Center will prepare tax returns for E-7s and below, O-3s and below, retirees with gross income of $85,000 and below, and their dependents. Eligibility for military clients includes Active Duty, National Guard and Reserves.
The office will be open to eligible parties, Tuesday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., by appointment and on a walk-in basis.
The center will be located inside of the Consolidated Support building 20245, across from the Housing Office.
What to bring to the Tax Center:
-- Proof of identification (Picture ID)
-- Social Security cards for every dependent/Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for foreign status
-- Birth dates for each person
-- A copy of federal and state returns for the last two years
-- Income statements from any source: W-2, W-2G, 1099s, etc.
-- Direct Deposit information (bring checkbook or bank routing and account numbers)
-- Total paid for daycare provider and provider’s tax identifying number (TIN)
-- Higher education documents from college/university (1098-T and statements)
