U.S. Air Force Maj. Gordan M. Blair, 58th Special Operations Wing Detachment Two commander, assumes command of the 58th SOW DET 2 at Kirtland Air Force Base, June 2, 2023. U.S. Air Force Maj. Gordan M. Blair assumed command of the second iteration of the 58th SOW Detachment Two at Kirtland Air Force Base, June 2nd, 2023. The first iteration of this detachment operated from July 1, 2019, to June 3, 2022, integrating the HH-60W into the 58 SOW fleet and its aircrew training operations. This new version will still be devoted to rotary wing aircraft but with the additional mission of saying farewell to a long-running workhorse and icon of the U.S. military, the UH-1N “Huey”, as the Air Force transitions to the new MH-139.
