Access Practical
The second week of Special Warfare Orientation Course introduces cadets to the three Air Force Special Warfare missions of Global Access, Precision Strike and Personnel Recovery. Small Unit
The first week of SWOC provides foundational academic information to prepare cadets to conduct full mission profiles of the Global Access, Precision Strike, and Personnel Recovery missions in week 2. Here, cadets receive classes in AFSPECWAR history and application process, interviews, tactical combat casualty care, small unit tactics, land navigation, troop leading procedures, the eight special warfare attributes: Human Performance, Decision Making, Resiliency, Radio Communications, and Real-World Mission Review. The information and exposure during SWOC will help cadets prepare physically and mentally prior to attending a selection for Special Warfare, called Phase II.

UH-1 seats
During the second week of Special Warfare Orientation Course, full mission profiles include U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force rotary wing helicopters. Here, cadets infiltrate and exfiltrate via CH-47 Chinooks and UH-1 “Huey” Iroquois, making this U.S. Air Force Academy summer program and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps development training a joint team effort. The information and exposure during SWOC will help cadets prepare physically and mentally prior to attending a selection for Special Warfare, called Phase II.
