Rapid reaction challenge
The U.S. Naval Academy team participating in the Air Force Research Laboratory’s 2011 Rapid Reaction Challenge, conducted in the southeastern portion of Kirtland Air Force Base, stands next to their Trailbreaker device, a two-wheel, all-terrain vehicle with a 172-cc engine with 6.6 horsepower that can achieve a top speed of 35 miles per hour. The USNA won the Service Academies’ competition. The Rapid Reaction Challenge occurred April 15-27.

TEAM NAME: Got Nukes? Participants at the White Sands Missile Range 22nd Annual Bataan Memorial Death March on March 27. TEAM MEMBERS: Staff Sgt. Andrew Doutrich; Senior Airman Josh McCue; Senior Airman Brad Lewis; Airman 1st Class Jason VanHoose; Airman 1st Class Chris Kellems SQUADRON: 898th Munitions Squadron AFSC/DUTY TITLE: 2W2X1/Nuclear Weapons Specialists HOMETOWNS: Centennial, Colo.; Oviedo, Fla.; Tucson, Ariz.; Mt. Gilead, Ohio; Steele, Mo. GOALS: Short-term, place first in the 2012 Bataan Memorial Death March. Long-term, strengthen both the career field and the nuclear enterprise. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: ‘Got Nukes?’ is a weapons maintenance team assigned to the 898th Munitions Squadron. The team completed the 2011 Bataan Memorial Death March in the Military Light category. Team ‘Got Nukes?’ showcased Air Force core values by placing fourth in a category normally dominated by Army teams, despite sustaining an injury to a team member. Additionally, the team displayed exceptional teamwork by assisting injured team member for the final 13 miles of the march, ensuring the entire team finished together.
