ABQ Ride expands bus routes on Kirtland Published Feb. 23, 2007 KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, NEW MEXICO -- Buses are an important part of everyday life and play an important part in the social fabric of many cities. At Kirtland, the same views are held in the same regard. Not only for the benefits of clean air but to reduce road congestion and to save people money. Recently, the base in conjunction with Albuquerque Ride has reviewed and restructured the routing system and expanded service. New routes this year include Route 157 with service between Cottonwood Mall, Uptown and Kirtland. Route 157 starts at Cottonwood Mall and travels down Golf Course and across Montano. The new route now goes all the way to the base entering the Gibson Gate and includes trips during midday. Albuquerque Ride also added two additional stops on Route 98 on the west side located by the westside shoppette and the noncommissioned officer academy. The increase in routes serves to make commuting much easier and increase base personnel rider ship. Additional information on routes and services can be found at the Albuquerque transit Web site at www.cabq.gov/transit/tran.html or by calling 243-RIDE for help and assistance in trip planning.
