  • Kirtland Spouses Club awards scholarships

    The Kirtland Spouses Club awarded nine scholarships in their annual scholarship banquet April 17, 2019 at the Mountain View Club here. The scholarships, totaling more than $12,000, were given to seven high school seniors and two dependent spouses. The Spouses Club, a philanthropic non-profit organization, raised the funds primarily through the KSC Thrift Shop on base, according to Michelle Strandberg, event emcee and KSC vice president of welfare.
  • Women's History Month in full swing with panel, yoga events

    March is Women's History Month. The Kirtland Women’s History Month committee has adopted the theme “Military Working Moms.” Two events took place this week, including the Women's Panel March 7 and the Yoga session at Hardin Field March 8. (Air Force photos by Jessie Perkins and Jim Fisher) Three key events remain in March: Feldenkrais (movement technique): March 13 from 4-5:30 p.m. at Gravity. This is a powerful and revolutionary approach to improving one’s life that uses gentle, mindful movement to bring new awareness and possibility into every aspect of life. Matts/blankets will be provided, but participants should feel free to bring their own as well. Ceramics Paint-it: March 22 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Arts & Crafts. Participants will work on ceramic coffee mugs. Pizza and drinks provided and all supplies paid for. To RSVP, please contact L1st Lt. Coleman at kali.r.coleman.mil@us.af.mil. There is a limit of 25 participants. Come and be inspired to create, spend time with family, friends, and even co-workers.   • Kirtland Talks: SFS/CC Chamberlin defines the “why”

    Every quarter a member of Team Kirtland gives a short, inspirational talk on various topics related to resiliency, called “Kirtland Talks”. This quarter, Maj. Shawn Chamberlin, 377th Security Forces Squadron commander, spoke on how he discovered his “why” and how Team Kirtland can discover theirs.

  • Kirtland Fire Dept. trains, graduates new firefighters

    The Kirtland Air Force Base Fire Department swore-in six new firefighters in a ceremony here Dec. 14. The group of cadets completed training at Kirtland, in a Fire and Emergency Services Training Academy program developed by the KAFBFD.
