Next Generation Aircrew Protection team conducts B-1 vapor purge testing

Dr. Richard Salisbury, 711th Human Performance Wing chemical biological radiological and nuclear analyst and Next Generation Aircrew Protection team member, and Mark Docter, METSS Corporation researcher and NGAP team member, set up the vapor purge testing nebulizer on Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, Nov. 7, 2023. During testing, a vapor simulant known as methyl salicylate was injected into the B-1B Lancer while sensors inside the cockpit measured how long it took the vapor to be purged while airborne.
