(Atomic Flyer) Cloud Samplers Head for ‘Rock,' April 4, 1958. The 4926th Test Squadron (Sampling), winner of the Air Force Special Weapons Center 1957 annual flying safety award, left here Tuesday morning for the 5,000-mile flight to Eniwetok, Marshall Islands, and this year’s overseas nuclear weapons test series. The squadron, flying B-57s, is the last major Kirtland contingent to leave for Operation Hardtack, scheduled to start this month. Families and friends were on hand to see 10 twin – jet bombers take off in two flights of five each. The planes, equipped with long-distance fuel tanks, will stop in California, Hawaii, and Johnson Island on their way to the “Rock.” 377th Combat Support Group stands up, April 8, 1966.
