Mark MacEwan and Christine Bicksler of AECOM conduct a site survey of Kirtland’s Bulk Fuel Facility. On Thursday, 10 environmental remediation companies visited Kirtland’s bulk fuels area to prepare their proposals for site cleanup. Final contractor selection for this innovative “performance based” cleanup contract is expected in August. The Air Force is working closely with the New Mexico Environmental Department who has final authority over the cleanup methods and plan. Locally, the Albuquerque detachment of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with assistance from the Kirtland’s Civil Engineering personnel, will manage the company selected for the project.
