Memorial Day
Local families of military men and women who died while serving their country during the past year were honored May 30 at a Memorial Day ceremony at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park. A brick memorializing each of the fallen was given to each family and will be permanently placed at the park’s memorial. Also presented to the families was a plaque from the Purple Heart Association and a quilt from the Jemez Mountain Quilting Guild.

MDG awards
The Personnel Reliability Program at the 377th Medical Group and its staff were recently recognized by the Air Force Inspection Agency and Defense Threat Reduction Agency inspection team as being the best program seen in the Department of Defense in 34 years. Members of the program received the Air Force Achievement Medal for their outstanding work.

Capt. Alan Louie, AFOTEC, helps students from East San Jose Elementary of Albuquerque connect a tunnel from one habitat to another at the Convention Center on May 6. Schools from across New Mexico participated in the Mission to Mars program, where classrooms follow curriculum set by AFRL. As a final project, students build habitats that connect to other habitats and present information they have learned about outer space.
