The Nucleus celebrates the Air Force?s 60th Anniversary by remembering Kirtland?s history April 10, 1941 The 19th Bomb Group, comprising the 30th, 32nd, and 93rd Bombardment Squadrons and the 38th Reconnaissance Squadron bega April 10, 1941n flight training operations at Albuquerque Army Air Base. The 19th Bomb Group flew B-17 aircraft under the command of Col. Eugene Eubank. A B-17 from the 19th Bomb Group is refueled at Albuquerque Army Air Base, now Kirtland AFB.
