Team Kirtland will celebrate Earth Day on April 25 and 26 through three different events: kicking off a van pool initiative, activities at the Youth Center, and participating with Sandia National Laboratories during "Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work/Earth Day Event."

The van pool initiative will start with an informational session at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the 377 ABW Presentation Center, Building 20604. Active-duty military and qualified civilian employees are eligible for up to $125 a month under the Federal Transportation Incentive Program.

The Youth Center event on Wednesday, April 25, will be an environmental carnival for approximately 100 children that includes information booths, displays, games and activities.

Sandia National Laboratories "Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work/Earth Day" celebration will be Thursday, April 26. SNL and contractors are expected to bring 1,500 students in grades 5 through 12 to these events, where the students can learn more about their parents' jobs, the mission of the labs, and this year, participate in Earth Day activities.

Kirtland AFB will have three Earth Day displays at Hardin Field, where children will learn about animal facts, a stormwater display and crafts made out of recycled materials. Many divisions throughout the labs will host demonstrations and displays inside the technical area. A wide variety of Earth Day activities are scheduled in the Steve Schiff Auditorium between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and on Hardin Field between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
