The AFRL La Luz Academy is recruiting participants (coaches and students), as well as scientist/engineer mentors for our 2012-2013 STEM Challenge Flight for high school students. The STEM Challenge Flight provides teams of 3-4 high school students an opportunity to complete a real-world science, technology, engineering and mathematics project using a multi-phase engineering design process. Student teams complete assignments for each phase of the project and submit their work using an online environment. Scientist/engineer mentors provide technical support and feedback to the student teams after reviewing their work. The teams need an adult coach to oversee their work as they complete the project assignments. Coaches can be teachers, club sponsors or parents. Coaches may manage multiple teams.
