377th LRS civilian named fleet manager of the year Published July 31, 2013 By Adam Bailey Nucleus staff writer KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Kirtland's Brandon Boggs won the Bob Baker Fleet Manager of the Year Award in the military small fleet division. "It's a big accomplishment for me," Boggs said. "This award is pretty major, and of all the fleet managers out there who were nominated and made it to the finals, I feel honored I was picked." Boggs is the supervisory fleet manager of the vehicle management and analysis section of the 377th Logistics Readiness Squadron. He oversees the installation's fleet of 498 vehicles and co-supervises eight employees. He also serves as the point of contact for management of nuclear-certified vehicle records and war reserve material vehicle assets, and is the primary electronic records custodian for vehicle management and analysis. Boggs spearheaded the "Greening of the Government" program at Kirtland, helping to introduce alternative-fuel vehicles. "I was able to get 69 percent of Kirtland vehicles to be able to use alternative fuels," Boggs said. Some of Boggs' other accomplishments include managing Kirtland's $1.2 million General Services Administration lease for 201 377th Air Base Wing vehicles, creating a comprehensive program to track and ensure proper inspection of 69 other government motor vehicles, and coordinating vehicle needs and maintenance support for priority level-1 special assignment airlift and reflex delta missions. "One of my other major accomplishments is completing 21 Air Force Form 601 authorization requests, resulting in 16 new vehicle authorizations for current and new base units," Boggs said. The award is named in honor of Bob Baker, who was a manager for the Navy and a founding member of the Federal Fleet Policy Council. The award's four categories are small and large fleet for civilian agencies, and small and large fleet for military fleets. Small fleets are those between 20 and 500 vehicles, and large fleets are those with more than 500 vehicles.
