Sergeant heads eyeglasses recycling drive Published Feb. 26, 2014 By 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Staff Sgt. Jarrett Sainz is leading an eyeglasses recycling drive, which is going on now through next week. All the eyeglasses collected will go to a local Lions Club, who provides no-cost prescription glasses to people in Third World countries. Master Sgt. A. Todd Sauls, 377th Wing Staff Agencies first sergeant, said he is supportive of the eyeglass drive. "As a prior optometry technician, I've seen this process at work first-hand," he said. "The joy on someone's face when they realize that they can now see things and details that they couldn't before is priceless." The drive is for prescription glasses, sunglasses or reading glasses and plastic or metal frames that are no longer needed or being used. Donations will be accepted through March 7.
