The Kirtland Tax Center is open until April 15 to provide free tax-filing services to eligible customers.

The Tax Center will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Consolidated Support Center. When possible, electronic tax returns will be filed so people may receive refunds quicker.

The Tax Center is manned by volunteers, and has partnered with the Internal Revenue Service's VITA program. Volunteers will be available to prepare tax returns for E-6s and below, O-3s and below, and retirees with gross income of $65,000 and less. The center is unable to assist others due to manning constraints. We take walk-ins, however, an appointment is strongly recommended to avoid wait times.

What to bring to your appointment:
-- Proof of identification
-- Social Security cards for every dependent (ITIN for foreign status)
-- Birth dates for you and every dependent
-- A copy of last year's federal and state returns
-- Income statements: W-2, W-2G, 1099s
-- Direct deposit information
-- Total paid for daycare provider and provider's tax identifying number
-- If student loan interest was paid, please bring 1098-E
-- Real estate tax documents

Call 853-1700, during Tax Center open hours, to make an appointment.
