Learn, grow and explore.  That's the theme of Leadership Pathways, a program designed to get Team Kirtland members involved with the many professional and personal development classes and activities being offered on base.

Teresa Reinhard, Kirtland's community support coordinator, is spearheading the program as a way to bundle or package all the enhancement activities available to base personnel, and then incentivize people to participate in them.

"The overall purpose is to enhance resilience along the mental, social, spiritual and physical domains of well-being, increase community involvement and connections, and become more effective, knowledgeable Wingmen and leaders," Reinhard said.

The concept is to accrue points for participation or attendance in any of the Leadership Pathways course catalog offerings.  Once an individual has earned 200 points during the calendar year, he or she will be recognized with a Certificate of Accomplishment and a Leadership Pathways coin for military members and Department of Defense civilian employees.

Reinhard said more than a certificate or coin, she hopes people will be motivated by the opportunity to gain knowledge that will be beneficial in life, both professionally and personally.

"Leadership Pathways is not just for recognized leaders, such as supervisors or managers, but for anyone who wishes to increase their skill set and knowledge," she said. "We all have the capability to affect and help others whether it is colleagues, friends or family members. In that respect, we are all leaders."

Leadership Pathways is open to active-duty military members and their spouses, DoD civilian employees and NAF employees. A few select courses are intended for only military or civilian employees. The formal kickoff will be Feb. 1 at the Super Bowl Party at the Mountain View Club.
