Team Kirtland’s roles in national security begins with the people. Taking care of Airmen, Guardians, civilians, and families is essential to building a strong and ready force. Mind Gym, located inside the Craft, Outdoor Recreation, and Entertainment (CORE) building, offers Team Kirtland members a new resource to strengthen mental fitness and improve mission readiness.

This is one piece of the 377 Air Base Wing Commander’s commitment to People, Precision, and Progress by giving teammates the tools they need to perform at their best.

"Taking care of our people is how we build a ready and resilient force," said Col. Justin D.  Secrest, 377 Air Base Wing and Kirtland AFB installation commander. "Mind Gym is another resource that empowers Team Kirtland members to strengthen their minds, improve their performance, and support each other as we accomplish our mission."

The facility provides a place where anyone with the base access can improve focus, manage stress, and build healthy habits that support personal and professional success.

Mind Gym was installed at Kirtland in January 2025 and, lets visitors explore a range of interactive elements, guided activities, and quiet areas designed to support mental readiness. Whether someone needs a few minutes to reset during a busy day or wants to develop new skills for managing challenges, Mind Gym provides resources for every member of Team Kirtland.

“No excuses. No distractions. Train your mind with the same discipline you bring to the mission,” said SMSgt Christian Gallagher, 377th Force Support Squadron. “By strengthening mental readiness, Airmen reinforce the foundation of the mission. Mind Gym helps Team Kirtland members build the mental tools needed to improve performance, support their teammates, and continue progressing toward excellence.”

Mental fitness is a key part of readiness. Just like training the body to meet physical demands, training the mind to make better decisions, solve problems, and stay focused on the mission is critical to readiness. A mentally prepared force is better equipped to handle challenges and deliver precise results when our nation calls.

The facility is open to all Team Kirtland personnel. For any questions, please contact christian.gallagher@us.af.mil
