KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- OVERVIEW: Col. Jason Allen, Commander of the 58th Special Operations Wing, emphasizes the importance of family support for mission success and new wing priorities through holding two events addressing the wing mission and the Key Support Liaison program.
Col. Jason Allen, Commander of the 58th Special Operations Wing, made his priorities clear during recent all-calls with the wing and its key support liaisons. Following his assumption of command, Col. Allen wanted to take the time to introduce himself and his spouse, Mayra Allen, to the wing and their families.
In a show of his commitment to family support and aligning the wing, Col. Allen, together with Mayra Allen, hosted two events to address the wing mission and priorities as well as programs for key support liaisons across the 58 SOW.
“When our Airmen know their families are taken care of, they are focused on the mission. When they are focused on the mission, they are safe and will come home,” Col. Allen emphasized.
He also highlighted the need for readiness in light of ongoing challenges, stating, “With all the changes and challenges facing us, we need to be ready.”
The Key Support Liaison gatherings featured briefings for members, providing an overview of available resources, as well as opportunities for networking and discussions on improving support structures.
Mayra Allen, a mentor for the 58 SOW’s Key Support Liaison Program, expressed her support for wing members and KSLs, saying, “You are not alone. We are all here for each other. The important thing is to connect—talk to your fellow KSLs, your commanders, first sergeants, and use all the resources we learned about today. We are all in this together.”
The Commander’s Key Support Program is an official Unit Family Readiness Program designed to foster a sense of community and enhance overall mission readiness through robust family support. This program is made up of key support liaisons, spouses of 58 SOW personnel, partners, dependents, and family members.
Col. Allen’s focus on family support is a testament to the Air Force’s recognition that behind every successful Airman is a strong support system. By ensuring families are informed, connected, and cared for, the 58 SOW fosters a community where mission readiness and personal well-being go hand in hand.
In a time of evolving demands, the emphasis on family support highlights a core belief of the Air Force: that the strength of the mission starts at home.
