Honoring Kirtland Air Force Base's First Sergeants: A Day of Appreciation Published Sept. 24, 2024 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 58th Maintenance Group True North Religious Support Team acknowledged the First Sergeants across Kirtland Air Force Base for their service and hosted a First Shirts Appreciation Day. The day was designed to show gratitude to those responsible for the health and welfare of the Kirtland Airmen. The event was a dedicated time out for the First Sergeants, who usually have demanding schedules. "First Shirts deserve this," said Tech. Sgt. Wallace Pallicer, non-commissioned officer-in-charge of religious affairs True North, explaining the intention behind the event, "We wanted to honor the unsung heroes who dedicate themselves to the well-being of our Airmen. Today is about expressing our immense gratitude and giving back to those who tirelessly serve on the frontline.” The event provided the First Sergeants with a break from their routine stressors. Master Sgt. Ashalynn Murray, 377th Comptroller Squadron first sergeant commented, "It's important that we take some time for self-care and support each other." The day provided an opportunity for open discussion, self-reflection, and strategizing. It served as a reminder to the First Sergeants of the importance of taking care of themselves while they care for others. The event was a successful recognition of their vital role, leaving them appreciated and recharged for their future tasks.
