Volunteer Raft Guide Starting in April you can be trained as a volunteer raft guide for the 2007 summer season. Training will be held most weekends in April and includes CPR, first aid, American Canoe Association swift water rescue training and certificate and ACA raft guide training and certificate. Training is $100 and is fully refunded at the end of the season to guides who complete all training, are chosen to be part of the volunteer team and fulfill their guiding commitment. Tennis The Coronado Tennis Club, a private organization here, has started its membership drive. U.S. Tennis Association league teams are forming. Half price membership is available for active duty military and their families for $100. The CTC courts were resurfaced in 2006 and provide some of the best tennis surfaces in Albuquerque. TGA Golf Tournament The Tijeras Arroyo Golf Association will hold its second tournament of the year, the Spring Individual Tournament, March 24 at 9 a.m. Tournament cost is $20 a person. Kids Rock Beginner instruction for ages 5-10 at the Kirtland Climbing Gym, March 22, from 4 to 5 p.m. The cost is $15 a child. Learn to Rock Climb March 21 in the gym and March 25 at Socorro. The cost is $60. Learn equipment for climbing, knot, safety, belay techniques and anchors. Climbing technique will be taught on the evening gym portion. Class includes American Mountain Guides Association instructor, all equipment, all transportation from outdoor recreation, entrance into climbing gym and a free one-day return pass to gym. Bob Herring: 846-5110 For group exercise instructors who are prepared to take the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Primary Group Exercise Certification exam, this course is a review of AFAA's Basic Exercise Standards and Guidelines, anatomy, exercise science, exercise evaluation and exam criteria. The program format includes practical application of group exercise, study guide overview and question and answer sessions. The day concludes with written and practical exams.
