First sergeants, medical group host big baby shower Published April 13, 2007 By Sheila Rupp Nucleus Journalist KRITLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- The First Sergeants Association and the 377th Medical Group are gearing up the biggest baby shower Team Kirtland has ever seen on April 19 at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the pediatric clinic. "A Baby Affair" is for all expectant mothers and mothers that have babies 6 months old and younger, whether they are having their first child or sixth, said Christina Krisinger, new parent support nurse. "It's going to be a good time -- a fun day for moms to get together and celebrate," Ms. Krisinger said. There will be food, prizes and fun baby shower games in a relaxing atmosphere. There will also be giveaways for those attending. Though the event is for moms and soon-to-be moms only, children are welcome if other arrangements cannot be made, Ms. Krisinger said. "We're not limiting and we want anyone that wants to attend to be able to come," she said. Other than providing a good time, Ms. Krisinger said the event will also provide a good place for new moms to find out about community services, though she said there will not be educational presentations. She said she hopes that moms will be able to network and meet each other to form new friendships as women, but to also talk about playgroups, babysitting and anything else that pertains to having new babies and being a mom. She said it will be particularly good for first-time moms to come and network, learn what to expect and have support through motherhood. "There are a lot of people that don't get to have baby showers. ... A Baby Affair is for everyone to feel special," Ms. Krisinger said. The goal is to hold the special event approximately every six months to include everyone taking on the role of motherhood.
