General officer confirmation nominations announced Published Aug. 8, 2007 KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- Three brigadier generals with New Mexico ties have been nominated by the president to the Senate for appointment to the grade of major general. Brig. Gen. Kathleen D. Close, Ogden Air Logistics Center commander, Hill AFB, Utah, was the commander of the 377th Air Base Wing from July 2002 to Aug. 2003. She was also the Air Force Materiel Command inspector general, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, from 2002-2003 and the AFMC director of mission support, from 2005-2006. Brig. Gen. William N. McCasland, Air Force director of space acquisition, Pentagon, was the Phillips Research Site commander and Materiel Wing director, Air Force Research Laboratory Space Vehicles Directorate director, from Oct. 2001-May 2004. Brig. Gen. James P. Hunt, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Air and Space Operations director, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, was the commander of the 49th Fighter Wing, Holloman AFB, N.M., from July 2002-May 2004. General Hunt's wife, Col. Patricia A. Hunt, was commander of the 377th Logistics Group and the 377th Maintenance Group from 2002-2004.
