Kirtland Air Force Base, NM -- A Kirtland AFB commander and a former commander have been nominated by the president to the senate for promotion to brigadier general. Col. Robert D. McMurry Jr., the commander of the Airborne Laser Program here, was among the 29 colonels nominated for promotion.

Also on the list is Col. Burke E. Wilson, former commander of the Space Development and Test Wing and now commander of the 45th Space Wing, Patrick AFB, Fla.
