Over the Labor Day holiday, 11 volunteers from the Team Kirtland Company Grade Officers' Council and the Rising 6 staffed vans to take World War II veterans from the Albuquerque airport and train stations to their annual reunion.

Veterans and guests of the 376th Heavy Bombardment Group, one of the most decorated Bomb Groups in World War II, have been reuniting nearly every year since 1947. This year, the reunion was in Albuquerque.

The Team Kirtland CGOC and Rising 6 partnered to welcome these veterans and their families to New Mexico and helped usher them to the reunion venue. The active-duty volunteers and the 376th HBG veterans enjoyed interacting and sharing stories of their experiences.

The CGOC aims to foster professional development, community involvement, and networking for company grade officers at Kirtland AFB. The CGOC holds a social lunch the third Thursday of each month and a council meeting on the fourth Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the Mountain View Club's Ground Zero Lounge.

The Rising 6 organization aims to foster the development and mentorship of enlisted members, Airmen Basic through technical sergeant.

The Rising 6 advises senior leadership, promotes and supports NCO professional military education programs, and provides support to other Kirtland organizations. The next meeting will be Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. in the Mountain View Club.
