Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center hosts science and engineering outreach

Kirtland Air Force Base -- The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center held a forum Oct. 23 at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History for college students to interact with scientists and engineers from organizations across the nuclear enterprise.
Dr. Yolanda Jones King, AFNWC Director of Engineering and Technical Management, hosted the event with Dr. L. Wayne Brasure, AFNWC executive director, and Brig. Gen. John F. Thompson, Air Force Program Executive Office for Strategic Systems, as special
guests. Nuclear enterprise partners represented were the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and the National Nuclear Security
Administration.
In addition to talking with professional scientists and engineers, students toured the museum for an overview of the history behind the nuclear enterprise.
The Center will sponsor similar events in the future to build partnerships with academia and community leaders, as well as advocate the importance of scientists and engineers
in reaching the Air Force's goals of meeting warfighter needs.
