After many entries from base members, the Kirtland Air Force Base Open House logo and poster is approved.

A committee of senior leaders chose a design by John Korkosz, the husband of Maj. Jennifer Korkosz, 377th Medical Operations Squadron, and Ted Harrison, Base Multimedia Manager.

Other details are also taking shape for the Open House on Oct. 9.

Several static displays, including military and civilian aircraft, and historical and current military vehicles will be part of the event.

There will also be ground demonstrations by the 377th Security Forces Squadron Working Dog Section, pararescuemen from Detachment 1, 342nd Training Squadron, and the 377th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Branch, as well as musical performances by the Air Force Band of the West throughout the day.

Aerial demonstrations include the 58th Special Operations Wing and the featured performers, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds will perform at 3:30 p.m.; all incoming traffic to the base will be stopped 30 minutes beforehand.
