KAFB welcomes inspectors Published Sept. 9, 2011 By Col. David Hornyak 377th Air Base Wing vice commander KIRTLAND AFB, N.M. -- Kirtland Air Force Base welcomes the Air Force Materiel Command inspection teams for the Limited Nuclear Surety Inspection; Operational Readiness Inspection; Initial Nuclear Surety Inspection; Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Compliance Assessment and Management Program; Logistics Compliance Assessment Program; and Safety Program Management Evaluation. Through exercises, self-inspections and careful attention to detail in our daily operations, we have polished our programs and refined our processes to a high state of readiness and effectiveness. I am confident that the inspectors will validate what we already know -- Team Kirtland is ready to perform our assigned missions in a safe, secure and reliable manner, whenever and wherever called upon. As with everything we do, the inspections will require a team approach -- continuing to perform the actions we do each and every day to achieve the reliability critical to our missions across the base. Whether your area is being inspected on nuclear surety, readiness capabilities, environmental compliance, logistics assessment, safety, or a combination of all, I know you are ready. Remember - first impressions count the most. Treat the inspections as your top priority: show a sense of urgency; maintain a positive and professional attitude; and don't forget, it's a team effort. The inspections are our opportunity to prove what we do best -- conducting nuclear operations; organizing, training, equipping and deploying expeditionary combat forces; and operating, securing and supporting Kirtland Air Force Base. To the inspection teams, we are truly glad you're here. Your evaluations will inform Air Force senior leadership that Team Kirtland is "all in," and as you will discover, we live that standard every day.
