Members of the Kirtland Officers Spouses Club and their families took a guided tour of the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden on Tuesday.
Led by Stan Schug, horticulture curator for the ABQ BioPark, the group ventured through the children's Fantasy Garden, the Butterfly Pavilion, the Mediterranean Conservatory and the new Dragonfly Sanctuary. Schug talked about the development of the gardens over the years and answered questions regarding the variety of plant life in the area and the requirements of maintaining it in a desert climate.
Other KOSC members took a self-guided tour through the ABQ BioPark Aquarium, complete with an educational scavenger hunt.
The KOSC hosts an event for members once a month; the next event will be Oct. 7. For more information, visit the club's website at www.kirtlandosc.com.
