Annual drive begins Oct. 5 Published Sept. 30, 2011 By Danny Monahan 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Kirtland Air Force Base -- The Combined Federal Campaign begins at Kirtland Air Force Base Wednesday and runs through Nov. 16. "CFC is an opportunity for those of us working federal jobs to give back to the community by donating money to various local, national and international charities," said 1st Lt. Erin Archer, Kirtland AFB CFC coordinator. According to the CFC, pledges made by federal employees during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations that support a wide-variety of causes throughout the world. Established in 1961, the CFC is celebrating its 50th anniversary. "With all the natural disasters that have struck our nation this year, more Americans than ever need assistance," said Master Sgt. Michael Herrmann, Kirtland AFB CFC coordinator. "As Americans, we stand proud of our country through many setbacks and challenging times. This is one opportunity to support our own and show what we are made of." Team Kirtland's goal is to raise $425,000 in six weeks. Another CFC goal is to make 100 percent contact with Team Kirtland members by Oct. 19. CFC representatives will be available throughout the installation to help Team Kirtland reach its goals. "Each organization on base should have at least one representative," said Archer. "They have all the donation forms and the CFC books, which list all charities." If a representative has not made contact, contact Archer at erin.archer@kirtland.af.mil or Herrmann at michael.herrmann@kirtland.af.mil. "Everyone wants to help others, but sometimes our ability to do that is limited by time or distance, CFC allows us to help people by simply writing a check or signing up for pay period deductions," said Archer. "The best part is you can choose how your donation is used, and a little makes a big difference." Minimum donation is $1 a month for a payroll deduction.
