From Renaissance-era music, through 1940's Big Band pieces, to today's pop music, the U.S. Air
Force Academy Band ensemble "Academy Winds" provides entertainment for members of the whole family.

Area residents will have their chance to hear the ensemble as Academy Winds comes to Albuquerque for a performance at 8 p.m. Nov. 12, at the Historic El Rey Theater.

The group will also perform a diverse selection of Irish, Latin and Native American music.

"We've put together a very entertaining show," said musical director, Master Sgt. Sarah Balian. "There is literally something for everyone, and the show is non-stop action."

One of the goals of the performance is to honor heroes past and present, and remind us of their sacrifices and the importance of service, said Balian.

"The show will honor our veterans and all the men and women currently serving around the world," she said.

Not only will the performance honor our troops, but it will highlight the diversity and skill found throughout the United States Air Force.

"The versatility and professionalism of this unique ensemble reflect the great diversity and ingenuity that make our Air Force the greatest air, space and cyberspace force in the world," said percussionist Master Sgt. Steven Przyzycki.
