The two squadrons of the 377th Security Forces Group have received 2011 Air Force Materiel Command awards and are now competing at the Air Force level.

The 377th Security Forces Squadron and the 377th Weapons System Security Squadron won the Outstanding Security Forces Unit Award for the medium- and large-size active-duty units, respectively.

Until Aug. 15, the two were under a single squadron -- the 377 SFS.

"I couldn't be more proud," said Maj. Joseph Quinn, 377 SFS commander. "When I assumed command, we established our mission statement -- to be the premier law enforcement unit in the Air Force."

Throughout 2011, the Security Forces Defenders supported various distinguished visitor events, partnered with the Albuquerque Police Department on training and certification, supported numerous contingencies around the world, and established security requirements for the base's first open house in five years.

Both squadron commanders said they take their missions seriously and are proud of the many accomplishments achieved by their Airmen.

"Our young men and women are responsible for securing the nation's most valuable resource. They understand that monumental task and perform their duties well," said Lt. Col. Brian Eckart, 377 WSSS commander.
