Sales hit shelves on base Published Aug. 3, 2012 By Jonathan Rejent Nucleus staff writer KIRTLAND AFB, N.M. -- Both the Kirtland Air Force Base Exchange and the Kirtland Officers Spouses Club Thrift Shop, in preparation for the upcoming school year, are slashing prices for a limited time. The Exchange will hold a "Back-to-School" sale Aug. 3 through 5 to during the tax holiday. The thrift shop, in addition to the tax-free benefits on Saturday, will have a half-off sale throughout August. "Every product is, of course, tax-free every day at the Exchange," said General Manager Robert Cooper. "Military shoppers who shop at the Exchange during this year's 'tax holiday' will see an added benefit as local sales tax percentage discounts will be matched, by category." The thrift shop's half-off sale includes all thrift shop merchandise -- indicated by colored stickers. The sale does not include consigned items. "Prices will drop as low as 25 cents," said Deborah Moyers, KOSC Thrift Shop manager. "Books, clothes, backpacks, electronics and more will be available for back-to-school shoppers." The Exchange is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The thrift shop is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as the first Saturday of every month.
