KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --

Team Kirtland hosted the first Operation Baby Shower, April 16, 2021, at Marquez Park on Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. This inaugural event celebrates families with new babies while also providing support and education for the endeavor of parenthood.

Edith Wegner, Violence Prevention Program manager, organized the event where more than 300 TK community members attended. Attendees were able to visit various booths, speak with different base agencies and spend time with friends.

“Whether it’s the first or fifth baby, each one is different,” said Wegner. “Families need support and access to programs made to encourage and help them each step of the way. As a community, the more we support families and help them deal with all the changes that come with a new baby, the more equipped they will be.”

Wegner anticipates this to become an annual event for Team Kirtland.
