A Kirtland AFB Airman was killed in an off base accident Wednesday evening, Nov. 4, 2020. U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. D’Andrea Smith’s vehicle was struck while driving to her residence in southeast Albuquerque. Albuquerque Police are investigating.

Kirtland AFB 377th Air Base Wing leadership shared the news with the Team Kirtland family:

Teammates,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Staff Sergeant D’Andrea Smith, from our 377th Medical Group.  She was lost in a tragic auto accident last night.

D’Andrea was a gifted and talented member of Team Kirtland.  She was sought-out for her mentorship and considered family by the Airman she and her wife, Breana, knew.  She was a True Tiger – a hard worker, a great mentor and a best friend.

We extend our deepest condolences to Breana and all of D’Andrea’s loved ones, here at Kirtland and elsewhere.

The Air Force is a family and the death of any one of our Wingmen is deeply felt by all of us.  Please reach out to your friends and loved ones during these difficult times.  Ask for help if you need it, and be on the lookout for others that need to take a knee while they deal with our team’s loss.

Be safe.

Very Respectfully,

Col. David Miller, 377th ABW Commander
Col. Ryan Nye, 377th ABW Vice Commander
CMSgt. Rob Stamper, 377th ABW Command Chief
