KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --
The 377th Weapon System Security Squadron welcomed Maj. Shawn Chamberlin as their new commander at a change of command ceremony here July 9, 2019.
The ceremony was presided over by 377th Security Forces Group Commander Col. Theodore Breuker.
“Maj. Chamberlin, you are about to lead a squadron made of great Airman to accomplish a critical mission,” he said. “You will be entrusted with America’s greatest resource, its young men and women, in order to protect our most vital resources. Lead them well, and they will accomplish great things.”
Chamberlin previously commanded the 377th Security Forces Squadron here.
“My only aim is to stand humbly beside you and lead you to victory,” said Chamberlin. “This is a no-fail mission. Every last Airmen here has a specific task and purpose. We will work together to showcase the value, and stand ready to protect our nation’s assets.”
He took over command of the squadron from Lt. Col. Joseph Parsons, who is scheduled to retire from active duty on July 10.
“If I could pick a commander to replace me, the person I would pick would be Maj. Shawn Chamberlin,” Parsons said. “Shawn, you and your family are going to have a ball getting to know and work with the men and women of the [377th WSSS]. I wish you the best of luck and they will truly become your extended family.”
The Air Force change of command ceremony is a military tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for a unit from one commanding officer to another.
