KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --
The Gibson Gate will be closed for renovation to both incoming and outgoing traffic June 11-22.
In the fall, a temporary gate house was installed to improve security measures at the gate. This closure will allow civil engineering to remove the temporary structures and install pre-fabricated structures with heating, cooling and restrooms for the gate guards..
“This change will not only improve the quality of life for our security forces, but will increase our anti-terrorism force protection measures at Gibson Gate,” said Bo Bohannon, deputy base civil engineer.
The gate closure could cause delays in entering and leaving the base, and base employees should plan accordingly. During the closure, the Wyoming Gate hours will be extended to 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends.
