Kirtland is hiring

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, NM --

Those looking for a safe and secure place to work and play should look no further than Kirtland Air Force Base in southeast Albuquerque.

Kirtland is hiring for more than 100 non-appropriated fund positions, ranging from marketing to housekeepers to sports assistants and much more. NAF jobs are government jobs, which get people into the government employment system where they can earn credit toward qualification for GS positions.

Graisha Ridley, a human resources assistant in the 377th Force Support Squadron, said the pay is comparable to similar facilities off base.

“Kirtland is a great place to work and working a NAF job is a great way to make connections and to get your foot in the door if you’re interested in working in a civil service position down the road,” Ridley said.

Many NAF jobs do not require college degrees or formal education. The process from selection to starting work has been shortened by expediting background checks and clearance processes and takes between two and four weeks for most positions. People don’t have to have a military connection to be hired in the NAF system.

In addition to a competitive wage, NAF employees get access to Kirtland’s recreational activities and facilities, including a gym, swimming pools and tennis and racquetball courts.

Those interested in applying should visit www.nafjobs.org/viewjobs.aspx and choose base: Kirtland. For more information on the application process, contact Ridley at 846-1522.

In addition to the NAF jobs, there are also many General Schedule jobs open on Kirtland. These positions can be found through a search at www.usajobs.gov. Numerous tutorials are available to help those wanting to apply for a GS position at www.youtube.com/user/usajobsapp.
