KIRTLAND AFB, N.M. --
The Air Force and the New Mexico Environment Department will host a quarterly public information meeting Thursday evening, March 9, at the African American Performing Arts Center, to provide an update about the Kirtland Air Force Base Bulk Fuels Facility leak cleanup activities.
The public meeting will be followed by a public workshop Saturday morning, March 11, at Christ United Methodist Church.
Thursday’s meeting begins with a poster session from 5:30 to 6 p.m. to provide community members with an opportunity to discuss the project with Air Force and NMED technical experts and project leaders.
The main meeting runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and includes a project status update, as well as a question and answer period.
Saturday’s public workshop, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is an opportunity for members of the public to follow up on topics raised at the public meeting, have detailed technical discussions with project staff, and raise ideas and topics for future workshops.
The workshop agenda begins with a meet and greet with Air Force, NMED and other key stakeholders, followed by breakout sessions to discuss topics of most interest to the surrounding community.
The African American Performing Arts Center is located at 310 San Pedro Drive NE and Christ United Methodist Church is located at 6200 Gibson Boulevard SE -- both in Albuquerque.
Representatives from the Air Force, NMED, Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority and the City of Albuquerque will be available at both the public meeting and workshop.
