Spouse Appreciation Day June 1

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico --  Team Kirtland will celebrate and say thank you to military spouses June 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mountain View Club.

Spouse Appreciation Day will be a fun-filled afternoon of pampering and celebration to show Team Kirtland's appreciation for those military spouses that make sacrifices every day and support their servicemember spouses.

The event will be held on the patio and pool areas, and the pool will be open with a lifeguard on duty and will be free for dependents to enjoy while spouses partake in the special festivities.

Facilities from the 377th Services Squadron such as the library, bowling center and child development centers, will also have some of their equipment available for children to play with. There will be a clown making balloon animals, bouncy castles and games for the kids. Members of the 377th Security Forces Squadron will be doing child identification and fingerprinting.

There is a fashion show scheduled for 11:30 a.m., following by a kayak roll class by Outdoor Recreation in the pool at noon, and a lunch and learn seminar at 12:30 p.m. Participants can attend a financial seminar at 1 p.m., a cooking demonstration at 1:30 p.m., a dance instruction at 2 p.m., and a personal safety presentation at 2:30 p.m.

Representatives from the Health and Wellness Center, Kirtland Family Housing, the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Family Advocacy, the women's health clinic, the dental clinic, Tricare and the Chapel will have booths. A car seat safety demonstration will also be presented. Military spouses with privately owned home businesses will have booths, though booths are for information only; sales are not permitted.

Each attendee will have the opportunity to be pampered by spa and cosmetic representatives, win prizes, enjoy free food and learn more about the benefits Team Kirtland and the surrounding community offer. Some of the events sponsors will also have prize drawings and giveaways for attendees. There will be raffles throughout the day for great prizes, including a spa getaway.

The entire day of festivities is especially for the military spouse as a thank you for the service and sacrifices they make each and every day for their servicemembers spouses and the country.
