DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Dyess Air Force Base is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated 2025 air show, scheduled to take place over Easter weekend, April 19-20, 2025. This year's theme, "Wings Over West Texas: A Salute to Western Heritage," promises to be an extraordinary celebration of aviation excellence and the rich cultural history of the American West. Admission and parking for the air show are free.
Headlining this year’s air show is the Air Force’s premier demonstration team, the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, better known as the Thunderbirds. Known for their awe-inspiring aerial displays and precision maneuvers, the Thunderbirds will captivate audiences with their extraordinary skills and breathtaking performances. The air show will feature two Thunderbirds performances, one on Saturday and another on Sunday.
"We are thrilled to welcome the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds to Dyess Air Force Base after a decade,” said Col. Samuel Friend, 7th Bomb Wing deputy commander. “This event not only showcases the incredible talents of our military aviators but also serves as a salute to our rich Western heritage. It is a testament to the enduring spirit and dedication within the Abilene community."
The air show will feature a wide range of aerial demonstrations, static displays, and interactive exhibits. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the capabilities of various aircraft and engage with military personnel to gain insights into the Air Force's mission and operations. Wings Over West Texas will be a family-friendly event, offering entertainment for all ages. Spectators can look forward to thrilling aerial performances, ground displays, food vendors, and activities for children.
