F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. --

During the morning hours of June 23, 2020, on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, Senior Airman Joshua Meza, 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron, vehicle maintenance technician, drove into work and found the fire suppression system active in a vehicle storage bay.

While contacting 9-1-1, Meza investigated and discovered that a fire had come from one of their maintenance trucks and that only one truck seemed to be damaged along with a bay door and the parts of the ceiling.

“I came into work at about 5-5:30 this morning to get ready to go out to the field when I saw water coming out of vehicle bay,” said Meza. “So naturally I went to investigate, and I heard the fire alarm, so I called 9-1-1 and did everything they told me to.”

When the fire department arrived they got everything under control, and ensured the fire was out.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Meza’s reaction to call in the fire may have helped to mitigate any further damages.
